After 7 years of micro-roasting at home for his family’s enjoyment, Wessel Kruger decided it was time to do the next right thing. Pause Coffee Roastery was established in 2016 in the Garden Route, Western Cape, South Africa with one main aim - hoping to share this coffee drinking joy with fellow coffee enthusiasts everywhere!
Wessel grew up in Bloemfontein. After his studies, he worked as a building services consulting engineer, commercial refrigeration equipment design engineer and moved on to development finance for 8 years before he followed his passion.
As a perfectionist, Wessel is constantly pursuing mastering the art of roasting. Every batch he roasts is personally tasted and tested for solubility to ensure quality and consistency. This Artisan Roastery believes the best coffee is fresh coffee, therefore every pack is stamped at the back with the roast date. The blends were lovingly crafted to create a unique and unforgettable cup.
The newest development in the business is a coffee bar and restaurant that is home to Pause Coffee Roastery, where the preparation of the coffee boasts the same technical standard as the roasting process. Coffee lovers can now enjoy their favourite Pause blends as well as other single origin speciality coffees at Timberlake Village (between Sedgefield and Wilderness) so we hope to see you there soon!
If you can’t make it to the Roastery, you can still enjoy Pause Coffee thanks to our new online shop.
Hopefully, you will have a moment or two, every day, to PAUSE – and
